Mark McLane PEI Obituary, Death – Prince Edward Island Minister has died

he province of Prince Edward Island is mourning the loss of Hon. Mark McLane, a long‑serving Member of the Legislative Assembly and senior provincial minister, who has passed away. McLane’s death was announced by Premier Rob Lantz in a heartfelt statement recognizing his life, service, and impact on Islanders.

McLane represented District 16 – Cornwall‑Meadowbank in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island, where he was first elected in a 2021 by‑election and re‑elected in the 2023 general election. Over the years, he held key roles in government, including Minister of Finance and most recently Minister of Health and Wellness, positions in which he worked to strengthen public services and healthcare for residents across the province.

In his official tribute, Premier Lantz described McLane as a “great Islander” and a dedicated public servant who approached his work and community with passion and integrity. He noted that McLane was valued not only for his leadership but also for his kindness, empathy, and genuine care for people — qualities that earned him respect from colleagues, constituents, and friends alike.

“Prince Edward Island lost a great Islander today — but far more importantly, a family lost a great husband and father,” Premier Lantz said in his statement. He highlighted McLane’s ability to connect with people, his dedication to teamwork, and the tireless commitment he showed to the province throughout his career.

McLane’s work extended beyond politics into community leadership and volunteerism. Before entering the legislature, he served as Executive Director of Golf PEI, led local businesses, and held volunteer roles in youth sports and community organizations. His background in business and community service informed his approach to public life, blending a focus on practical results with a deep commitment to the people he served.

He is survived by his wife, daughters, and extended family, who — along with colleagues and Islanders — are remembering him for his unwavering dedication and warm spirit. Funeral or memorial arrangements have not yet been made public.

Mark McLane’s legacy as both a leader and a community pillar will be remembered across Prince Edward Island.

In Loving Memory of Ben Pennington

Ben Pennington Death, Obituary: With heavy hearts and deep reverence, we remember Ben Pennington, a young man whose life, though only 26 years long, was marked by courage, sacrifice, and unwavering service to his country. A native of Glendale, Ben’s passing has left a profound impact on his family, friends, and all who knew his story.

Ben gave his life in service to the United States, killed by an Iranian bomb while serving overseas. His sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom and the bravery of those who stand in harm’s way to protect others. Though his life was taken far too soon, his legacy is one of honor, strength, and selflessness.

Those who knew Ben describe him as a young man full of promise—a son, a friend, and a member of a close-knit community that continues to hold his family close during this time of unimaginable grief. His journey touched many hearts, and even those who did not know him personally have been moved by his story and the sacrifice he made.

Ben’s story also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prayer, faith, and perseverance. In times of uncertainty and pain, many are called to continue praying—for their children, their families, and for those who may be struggling or searching for purpose. The message is clear: do not grow weary. Faith calls for endurance, trust, and belief that even in the darkest moments, there is light.

As the community reflects on Ben’s life, there is both sorrow and gratitude—sorrow for the loss of such a young life, and gratitude for the example he set through his service and sacrifice. His life stands as a testament to courage, faith, and the enduring strength of love.

Today, thoughts and prayers remain with Ben’s family, his community, and all who carry his memory in their hearts. May they find comfort in their faith and in the knowledge that his life, though brief, made a lasting impact.
