In Loving Memory of Amanda Thompson
With deep sorrow, the Rusk County, Texas community mourns the tragic and untimely passing of Amanda Thompson, who was fatally shot on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at her home off County Road 3122. Authorities confirmed that her death resulted from a family violence incident.
Amanda Thompson was found deceased inside her residence during a welfare check conducted by Rusk County deputies. She is remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a cherished and valued member of the community whose sudden loss leaves a profound void.
The suspect, Scott Raymond Thompson, left the home prior to authorities’ arrival and was later located in Russellville, Arkansas, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals and the Arkansas State Police. He is currently being held in the Pope County Jail in Arkansas and has been charged with murder.
